10 Reasons Not to Move to San Antonio

Hello Friend,

Sure San Antonio can be a fun place to visit. They have bomb Mexican food, the River Walk and great weekly happenings but is it really a place you want to move? Today, I am looking to provide you 10 reasons NOT to move to San Antonio Texas.

1. Lower Income: The average income in San Antonio is 50,000. If you are moving from a big city in (for example, New York or Los Angelos) and assuming a similar position, you may be taking a pay cut.
2. Crime: The crime rate in San Antonio is 108 percent higher than the national average and it is only safer than 6 percent of the cities in the U.S.
3. Heavily Spanish Speaking: San Antonio has a large population of Spanish speakers. This is, of course, not a bad thing! You just may not be able to read every menu at restaurants or converse with everyone you meet!
4. Fire ants: There is a huge fire ant problem in San Antonio. They bite. And it HURTS.
5. Severe Allergies: Cedar trees give off an extreme amount of pollen giving its residents the infamous cedar fever.
6. Taxes: San Antonio has a 8.25% sales tax rate and it has the 6th highest property taxes in the U.S.
7. The Heat: The average July temperature is 95 degrees, with many days in the triple digits. San Antonio is also almost always in a stage of drought making it feel like a desert.
8. Absence of a MLB or NFL team: If you are a pro-baseball or football fan you will not have a local team to root for. Not a huge deal if you are not a sports fan but can be upsetting to some.
9. Traffic and congestion: With the city constantly expanding there is relentless construction efforts that add to the traffic and congestion felt on the citys roads and highways. Commutes can be horrendous, and it is not uncommon to be sitting in traffic.
10. Loud Limestone quarries: Noisy limestone quarries disrupt the peace in and around San Antonio. It is crucial to ensure you do not purchase a home within earshot of a quarry otherwise you will hear blasts each day as well as never-ending shoveling of stone by large trucks.

If reading this list made you sad, dont be! I know each city has its fair share of pros and cons, I just thought it would be helpful to share the most common complaints for living in San Antonio.
